Xiaomi’s most extreme smartphone has not been long in coming: as the company itself had confirmed to us a few weeks ago, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra is now officialand arrives to become the leader of the company’s catalog, with the most beasts and the most advanced camera system the company has ever put on one of its phones.
In addition to equipping a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor and an impressive AMOLED LTPO screen, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra stands out from the rest for incorporating a camera system with the LEICA seal, the historic Swedish firm specializing in photography. But what does this collaboration really entail?

In addition to having the most advanced features of the entire family, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra also has a design full of differential featuresbeginning at its rear with the huge circular chamber module located on the back of the device, inside a glass “window” that occupies the entire width of its rear.
The device has a back made of a material never before used by Xiaomi: organic silicone, stronger than plastic. It can be purchased in two colors: dark green and black. The circular chamber module is made of aluminium, with a trim covered in 24 karat gold.
Unlike their younger siblings, the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Prothe Xiaomi 12S Ultra has IP68 certification that guarantees its resistance to water and dust.
Returning to the camera module, we find a state-of-the-art Sony IMX989 sensor acting as the main camera, with 50 megapixels of resolution and size of one inch. It comes equipped with an optical image stabilizer and, depending on the brand, is capable of capture 49% more light than the previous Sony IMX766.
Next to it, we find a 48 megapixel ultra wide angle secondary cameraand a sensor telephoto 48-megapixel camera with periscope-type lens, optical stabilization and digital zoom of up to 120x.
In this case, LEICA has worked together with Xiaomi to tune the software in charge of processing the captures, with a color interpretation more natural and precise. Also, they are used LEICA Summicron lenses with capabilities such as infrared and ultraviolet ray filter
In addition to that, Xiaomi has equipped a integrated chip dedicated to photography called Xiaomi G1on which the processing tasks fall to improve the speed at which the photographs and videos are processed.
Under the hood of this model is the processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, the latest and most powerful created by Qualcomm. It is accompanied by 8 or 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, with 128, 256 or 512 GB of internal storage.
All of this is backed by a 4860mAh capacity batteryaccompanied by a system of 67W fast charge of power and wireless charging up to 50 W.
Your screen has 6.73 inches diagonal and makes use of AMOLED LTPO technology with a refresh rate of up to 120 hertz. It can reach a maximum brightness of up to 1,500 nits, and it has 2K resolution.

Xiaomi has introduced the 12S Ultra in China, where it will be sold exclusively at first. For now, the brand has not confirmed whether it will market its new flagship in the rest of the world’s regions.
