The dangerous Android malware known as “Joker” has been discovered again in applications present on Google Play
One more time, “Jokers” again poses a threat to thousands of Android device users around the world. The infamous Trojan, which in its day it was described by Google as a malware difficult to detect and remove, it has now appeared in various applications present in Google Play Store.
They have been the cybersecurity experts of prairie who, after conducting an investigation, has determined that “Joker” is behind of a new attack carried out through several apps, which had accumulated more than 100,000 downloads total.

Pradeo’s people have been able to identify the Joker code in a total of four new applications, present on Google Play for several weeks. According to the researchers, apps were downloaded and installed more than 100,000 times.
One more time, Joker has once again disguised itself as tool apps, including a translator, messaging apps or a blood pressure monitoring app. Once installed, the applications executed the code of the fleecewarein order to subscribe the user to SMS services or premium calls with which the attackers obtained economic benefits at the expense of their victims.
To achieve their goal, apps have the necessary mechanisms to bypass two-factor verification methods, for example, by intercepting one-time passwords received via SMS. In addition, the apps obtained sufficient privileges that allowed them to download and install other appspotentially more dangerous.
The list of apps infected by Joker is made up of these four apps:

- Voice Languages Translator | +10000 downloads
- Quick Text SMS | +10000 downloads
Thanks to Pradeo’s warning, Google was able to remove malware-infected apps from the store catalogso that today they no longer pose a threat to those who have not downloaded them to their devices.
It is very important that, if you have any of these applications installed on your device, uninstall it as soon as possible to avoid problems. In addition to that, it is recommended download apps only from trusted sourcesand from developers who are not suspicious.
